Who We Are
The Volusia County Medical Society is a nonprofit, voluntary membership organization that represents approximately 500 physicians living or working in Volusia County. The Society serves its membership in such areas as legislative representation and continuing medical education, and through a variety of community relations projects. The Volusia County Medical Society was formed in 1902 by eleven local physicians. The Society is one of forty-six component medical societies chartered by the Florida Medical Association.
Mission

The Volusia County Medical Center serves as an advocate for physicians and their patients to promote the public health, to ensure high standards in medical education and ethics, and to enhance the quality and availability of health care.

As physician citizens we share a unique perspective regarding health issues which allows us to both care for our patients and to be their advocates.

Serving as a primary source of health related information we seek to educate our membership and our community. We strive to maintain the highest standards of medical care through our credentials and mediation processes.

We hope, through our combined efforts, to improve the science and art of medicine in our county.
